Matt, agree whole heartedly. Northern politics is in a rut in my opinion. It’s just like an arranged marriage- husband and wife hating each other. Both accept they should have a child cos the family want it. However, they cannot agree on shen said child should arrive.

There had to be a better way of forming an administration. What’s your alternative?

Considering that SF have direct responsibility for this mess, and the DUP and SF negotiated the system that allowed for this mess at St Andrew’s it would be arguably negligant if we didn’t address this.

Moreover, it is widely recognised that the SDLP proposals on education are sound, the problem is that the SF and the DUP colluded in the Assembly to have them voted down. Suppose they can work together when they want…….

So apart from blaming everyone involved in the tansfer test mess and keeping the pressure on, are the SDLP going to take a more active role in matters and actually come up with initiatives regarding how (and with what) to effectively replace the former transfer test system?

BK - it is not true to say that “from all reports” that the SF vote was up in Foyle. The only place this was reported was in the Derry Journal which is hardly known for its journalistic professionalism. In fact, they had to run a front page story in their next edition with an SDLP rebuttal http://www.derryjournal.com/journal/SDLP-beat-SF-in-Foyle.5360847.jp.

SDLP, Alliance, DUP and UCUNF sources have all said SF only had one tallyman at the Foyle verification. It is IMPOSSIBLE to make any accurate estimate on that basis. All other parties agreed the SDLP were at least 2000 ahead.

Apart from that, the SDLP cannot be complacent but to even get a per cent increase in a Euro election where turnout is always lower is not bad.
